Best DJI Mini 4 Pro Settings

The DJI Mini 4 Pro has several crucial settings that are important for drone users to ensure the best possible flying experience, as well as to capture the highest quality videos and images. You should adjust them. These settings will help you create more cinematic videos and capture better images with your drone. lets explore the best DJI Mini 4 Pro settings to optimize your drones performance.

1. NEFTY MODE

Nifty Mode

The Nifty Mode setting appears when you change your Obstacle Avoidance Action to Bypass. In Bypass mode, if the drone encounters an obstacle, it automatically flies around it and continues on its path without requiring adjustments to the joystick.

Nifty mode 1

When you set Obstacle Avoidance Action to Bypass, you can choose between Normal and Nifty Mode. The nifty Mode reduces safety around the drone, However, this reduced safety bubble increases the risk of collision, so it’s necessary to use Nifty Mode with caution. In fact, switching to Nifty Mode will trigger a warning about the increased collision risk.

For maximum safety when using bypassing obstacle avoidance, we recommend keeping the Bypassing Options set to Normal.

2. SIGNAL LOST

You may want to adjust the Signal Loss setting, which can be accessed by going to the Settings menu, selecting the Safety tab, and scrolling to the bottom to find Advanced Safety Settings. Under the Signal Loss option, you’ll see three choices: Return to Home, Descend, and Hover. if it loses signal with your controller.

If you set Signal Loss to Return to Home (the default setting), the drone will automatically engage Return to Home and fly back to you if it loses signal with the controller. For most flying situations, Return to Home is the preferred setting. For example, if you’re flying in a forest with many overhanging trees.

You can also set it to Descend, which means the drone will land where it is if the signal is lost. In a forest, where signal loss is more likely due to obstacles that interfere with the connection, Return to Home may cause the drone to ascend to a high altitude to return, risking collision with branches.

3. RESOLUTION FOR EACH MODE

Resulation 1

Another important setting is the Resolution and FPS settings. These settings are independent for each shooting mode, as it can impact the quality of your footage when reviewing it at home. For instance, you might set your Resolution to 4K in Normal Video mode, but if you switch to Quick Shots or Master Shots, you may find that the footage is recorded in 1080p.

Resulation

To avoid this, make sure to check and update your Resolution and FPS settings the first time you use Quick Shots or Master Shots mode. For example, if your Normal Video mode is set to 4K at 30 FPS, switching to Quick Shots mode may automatically reset to 1080p. To achieve the highest quality in each mode.

4. PHOTO RESOLUTION

If you want to capture the highest-quality images from Mini 4 Pro, there are a few settings you’ll want to adjust. The first setting is the megapixel option. If you scroll down, you’ll find the resolution setting, where you can choose between 12 MP and 48 MP. To capture the highest quality and highest resolution images, set this option to 48 MP. Additionally, to ensure the best image quality, you’ll also want to adjust the format setting.

5. HISTOGRAM

Histragram

Another setting is the Histogram. If you enable the option due to its many benefits. When enabled, a new graph, known as the histogram, will appear on your camera view.

A histogram is a graph representing the tones in an image, showing highlights, shadows, and everything in between. It’s very beneficial because it helps your videos and images to be always properly exposed. For example, on a bright sunny day, you might struggle to see the screen clearly, and certain areas of the image, like the sky, might look perfectly exposed at first glance. However, the histogram provides an accurate exposure reading.

You want the majority of the histogram graph to be centered or spread across the middle, indicating that your image is properly exposed.

If the graph is concentrated on the right side or pushed against it, the image is overexposed (too bright). If the graph is concentrated on the left side or crushed against it, the image is underexposed (too dark). To correct underexposure, increase the exposure by raising the Exposure Compensation value or by lowering the strength of the ND filter attached to the drone.

Using the histogram as a guide helps ensure you capture properly exposed images. Just make sure the graph is centered on the histogram for optimal results.

6. GRIDLINE

Gridlines

The Gridline setting offers three options: X, Grid, and Center Point. These gridlines will appear over the camera preview on your controller screen, helping you maintain composition. You can enable each of these options individually or in combination.

  • Gridlines 2
  • Gridlines 1

We prefer the X pointer as it makes it much easier to keep your subject centered in your clips, especially during complex maneuvers like orbits. You only need to keep your subject aligned with the center of the X. This helps ensure your subject remains centered throughout your drone movements.

7. OVEREXPOSURE WARNING

  • overexposure warning
  • overexposure warning 1

To ensure you never overexpose your images, use the overexposure warning setting. When this is enabled, the drone overlays ‘zebra‘ patterns on any overexposed areas of the image. For example, if you tilt the camera up toward the sky, you might see parts of the sky marked with this pattern, indicating overexposure. Areas with this zebra pattern will lose details that can’t be recovered in post-processing. This reduces your exposure until the zebra pattern disappears. You’ll know the image is properly exposed and free from irrecoverable highlights

8. CODING FORMAT

Coding Format 2

Another important setting is the coding format, which has two options: H.265 and H.264. The H.264 coding format requires less processing power, making it more efficient for older and less powerful machines. However, one thing to be aware of is that using the H.264 format will result in larger file sizes.

  • Coding Format
  • Coding Format 1

The second setting, H.265, is a newer encoding format with better compression efficiency. This means the file sizes will be smaller, allowing you to capture more clips with the total storage capacity of your micro SD card. However, due to the improved compression efficiency, more processing power is required to encode and edit the video clips. If you haven’t had any issues playing back and editing the clips you’ve captured, it’s a good idea to use the H.265 mode to take advantage of its benefits.

9. STYLE PARAMETERS

  • Style Parameters 1
  • Style Parameters 2

Another necessary setting is the style parameters. In the style heading, you’ll see options for sharpness and noise reduction. These settings allow you to tweak the appearance of the image coming from the drone. If you feel the videos from Best DJI Mini 4 pro Settings are slightly too sharp, you can reduce the sharpness by lowering the sharpness value. If you want to adjust the level of noise reduction applied to the videos, you can increase or decrease the noise reduction using the corresponding slider.
