Seattle’s BRINC, a drone manufacturer that specializes in emergency response, just cleared $75 million worth of funding to ramp up production and develop its first responder drone technology. The round, which was led by Index Ventures with substantial participation from Motorola Solutions, will enable BRINC to scale the company and respond to increasing demands from public safety agencies across the United States.
The investment comes alongside a new strategic partnership between BRINC and Motorola Solutions, which will combine its technology with BRINC’s drones to enhance emergency response capabilities. This partnership will give first responders the ability to launch drones with the press of a button via Motorola’s radios and software (VESTA 911 call management and Real-Time Crime Center software). The drones will offer real-time aerial intelligence, aiding in the de-escalation of dangerous situations and improving situational awareness in critical incidents.
Founded in 2019 by Blake Resnick, BRINC’s drones are already in use by over 600 public safety agencies, including more than 10% of U.S. SWAT teams. The company’s products, such as the Lemur 2 drone with glass-breaking capabilities and the Responder drone designed to deliver medical supplies, are helping to redefine how first responders handle emergencies.
Despite recent geopolitical challenges, including being placed on China’s “unreliable entity” list, BRINC remains resilient. The company has ensured its drones are made with U.S. and allied components, making them less reliant on foreign supply chains.
With the new funding and strategic partnership, BRINC aims to continue its mission of saving lives and transforming the future of public safety with its cutting-edge drone technology.
