Vector Launches Hammer F1 Military Quadcopter System

Defense technology company Vector has launched the Hammer F1, a compact, foldable quadcopter made for US military frontline operations. This 10-inch drone merges reconnaissance and precision strike functions into one portable platform. It is designed to meet the tough demands of today’s battlefield conditions.

Design and Portability

The Hammer F1 was created with feedback from warfighters during its design. The whole system fits into one bag, allowing for quick deployment in dynamic combat situations. Even though it’s small when folded, the drone offers impressive operational ability, with speeds up to 97 mph and a range of 25 kilometers.

Operational Capabilities

The quadcopter supports both day and nighttime operations through modular camera configurations that can be swapped based on mission requirements. A key feature is its native integration with the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK), a widely used military platform that allows soldiers to stream live video and sensor data for shared situational awareness across units in real time.

Modular Architecture

The Hammer F1 has a modular design that allows operators to change the system in the field as missions evolve. The platform features interchangeable sensor packages, a fiber optic connector port, a universal payload interface, and an integrated Picatinny rail. This open-systems approach enables users to easily integrate intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) tools, electronic warfare components, and precision strike payloads without the need for new airframes.

According to Andy Yakulis, CEO and Co-Founder of Vector, the development process was deeply collaborative. “Warfighters didn’t just inform this system; they essentially built it with us,” Yakulis said. “As former operators ourselves, we understood exactly what they needed to win, and we engineered every inch of the Hammer F1 around those requirements.”

Compliance and Manufacturing

The drone is fully compliant with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which restricts the use of certain foreign-made drone components in military systems. Vector manufactures the Hammer F1 using American supply chains at its factory in Utah, aligning with broader efforts to expand domestic drone production for national security purposes.

The system has been tested for cyber resiliency and operation in challenging electromagnetic environments where adversaries might try to jam signals or cause interference. This emphasis on resisting electronic warfare ensures the drone can work effectively against modern threats.

Company Background

Vector was founded by veterans from Tier 1 special operations and defense technology experts. The company has Blue UAS Cleared and Green UAS Cleared certifications and focuses on developing small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS). By prioritizing the needs of warfighters, compliance standards, and supply chain integrity, Vector has set up the Hammer F1 for smooth transition through Department of Defense procurement processes while meeting the operational standards required by frontline military units.
