Tekron Admits to Illegally Fixing DJI Drone Prices in Australia

Australian drone supplier Drone TK Australia, trading as Tekron, has admitted to participating in illegal resale price maintenance, which goes against the Competition and Consumer Act. This admission comes after an investigation by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Tekron works as an independent reseller and distributor of DJI drones, and it does not make the drones itself. From April 2024 to at least June 2025, the company required resellers to sell DJI drones at prices set or approved by Tekron. In one case, a reseller could offer discounts but was not allowed to advertise them publicly, which is against Australian consumer law.

ACCC Commissioner Luke Woodward emphasised that recommended retail prices carry no legal obligation. “Suppliers should not stop resellers from offering or advertising prices lower than the RRP or any other specified price for their products,” he said.

Following Tekron’s admission, the ACCC has accepted a court-enforceable commitment from the company. According to its terms, Tekron must update its contracts and marketing materials to eliminate any price maintenance provisions.

It must also issue a notice to inform resellers of their right to set their own prices. Additionally, Tekron must create a program to ensure compliance with competition and consumer law, which will be maintained for three years.

Commissioner Woodward warned that the outcome should serve as notice to the broader industry that the ACCC will continue pursuing enforcement action against businesses engaged in resale price maintenance.
