How to update
To download the update, turn on your controller and ensure it’s connected to your home Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot. The update notification should appear automatically. Once downloaded, press ‘Install’. After the installation and reset, the firmware should display version 1.5.8.
For iPhone or iPad users, simply go to the App Store, open the DJI Fly app, and click ‘Update’ to get the latest version. The process is identical for Android devices as well.
What’s New?
The release notes highlight new support for Douyin live streaming, alongside fixes for certain issues and overall app quality optimization. Douyin, essentially the Chinese version of TikTok, could be useful for live streaming. However, this feature is only available in China, which makes sense given DJI is a Chinese company.
Douyin livestream
Let’s explore the new Douyin live-streaming integration. Initially, I thought it would be a new feature in the menu, particularly in the transmission tab, which typically offers live-streaming options. Surprisingly, there’s no direct Douyin-specific login or app integration visible.
However, there are a few updates to live-streaming features. Using the DJI RC2 controller, you can live stream at 720p with two available options. Interestingly, when switching to the DJI RCN2 or DJI RCN3 controllers paired with a mobile phone, the app offers 1080p live streaming. So, depending on your setup, the resolution for live streaming via the DJI Fly app varies. This is worth keeping in mind if you plan to use this feature.
Summary
So, are there any new features in this update? Aside from the slightly revised live-stream interface, I didn’t find any notable changes. After checking the settings, submenus, and everything else, it seems there are no new features specifically for the DJI Mini 4 Pro, nor have there been any changes in the settings with this update.
