Section Two: Quality of Life Upgrades
These FPV Gear items make FPV less frustrating and can save a significant amount of time. They are not day-one essentials, but they make a real difference once you are flying regularly.
Table of Contents
Smoke Stopper
A smoke stopper is used before plugging in a battery after making any electrical changes. It protects against shorts, which is especially important after soldering or modifying a drone. It saves your electronics and prevents the nightmare of waiting weeks for replacement parts to arrive.
M4 Pocket Portable Charger
This is not essential, but it is a genuinely clever tool. If you are out in the field with a USB-C power bank, the M4 Pocket Portable Charger lets you top up your LiPo batteries on the go. It works up to 4S and can even reverse charge your LiPos to power your phone in a pinch.

ToolkitRC MC8 LiPo Checker
To pair with the M4 charger, the ToolkitRC MC8 is a handy battery management tool. It checks whether all cells in a LiPo pack are balanced and working at the same voltage, supports balance charging up to 6S, and includes a few other useful features. Together, these two tools make battery management much easier when flying away from home.

Electric Compressed Air Blower
Also known as a turbo fan, this tool is useful for cleaning dust, grass, and dirt out of your drone. It also has uses around the house for camera equipment or even starting a barbecue. For bench work in hot climates, it is particularly valuable for keeping your drone cool while working on it. Flywoo also offers a version that can be used to discharge LiPos safely.

Electric Screwdriver or Precision Set
This is one of the most time-saving tools available for FPV work. When you have a drone full of small screws to tighten or loosen during repairs, an electric screwdriver speeds up the entire process dramatically.

A mini precision set without the electric function is also a solid companion for on-the-go use given its small footprint and coverage of all the essential tools. Beginners should still learn the manual process, but this upgrade is worth it.
Micro Prop Removal Tool
For anyone who flies tiny whoops or small 2S drones, a micro prop removal tool makes prop changes much easier without risking damage to motors or props.
GepRC 1S LiPo Charger
The GepRC 1S LiPo charger pairs well with this setup, covering both BT2 and the older connector style. It charges quickly and can work with both LiPo power and USB-C input.

Model Making Hobby Toolkit and Cutting Mat
These two items can be picked up together from Amazon at a reasonable price. The toolkit includes files, tweezers, cutting knives, and other useful bits. Some of the tools may be lower quality, but it gives you a broad starting set cheaply.

The cutting mat protects your desk when cutting tape, heat shrink, 3D prints, or other materials during repairs. It keeps your workspace cleaner and saves your table from permanent damage.
From this section, the two upgrades worth prioritizing first are the smoke stopper and an electric screwdriver set. The smoke stopper protects your drone and the electric screwdriver saves significant time on repetitive tasks. The MC8 and M4 pocket charger are nice additions but are not necessary on day one.
