DJI Mini 4 Pro Firmware Update v01.00.0800 Problems

DJI has just released a new firmware update for the DJI Mini 4 Pro Firmware Update v01.00.0800 Problems, along with an update to the DJI Fly app. However, before rushing to install it, keep in mind that one of the features introduced in the last update has now been further degraded.

The new firmware update, version v01.00.0800, along with DJI Fly 1.5.4, is now available. According to the release notes, it claims to ‘fix known issues,‘ but the specifics are unclear. Most drone owners are unsure what this actually refers to. However, if you’ve been experiencing an issue with your drone, you might recognize what it addresses.

Focus Track Features

In the last update for the Mini 4 Pro, we got an exciting new feature the Focus Track option. This adds a new icon to the screen, and when you click on it, the drone will identify any people, vehicles, objects, or towers in the area that it can track. The DJI Mini 4 Pro also introduces the Aesthetic Tracking mode. To use it, simply click on the Focus Track icon on the left-hand side. Once enabled, the drone will scan for objects in the area.

For example, if it identifies you, a green box will appear around you. You can then click on it to access the usual Active Track options, along with a new C1 message. By pressing the C1 button, the drone will automatically fly and capture footage from various angles it deems aesthetically pleasing. This feature is particularly designed to create cinematic shots of people and is incredibly cool for capturing unique perspectives!

Latest Firmware Problems

In the latest firmware for the Mini 4 Pro, the Focus Track button remains on the left-hand side. When you click it, the feature enables as usual and identifies objects in the area. However, its ability to identify people one of its strongest features before has significantly worsened. Now, it struggles to recognize individuals unless they are very close, which is disappointing. Whatever tweaks were made in this update seem to have negatively impacted this functionality.

Not Identifying People

I’m hoping this issue is identified and resolved in a future firmware update, as the feature still works great on the DJI A3S. If you enjoy using Focus Track on the Mini 4 Pro, I’d recommend skipping this update for now. The new release has noticeably degraded the ability to identify people through the Focus Track option compared to earlier versions.

Check The Settings

If you updated with the latest firmware, you should check the settings menu to ensure that nothing has been added, removed, or altered. While it doesn’t appear that anything has changed in relation to the settings, it’s a good idea to quickly review them to confirm everything is correct. Firmware updates can sometimes reset or modify settings, so take a minute to go through this section and ensure everything is configured properly for your needs.

Summary

I’d recommend skipping this update unless you’ve been experiencing specific issues with your Mini 4 Pro or the DJI Fly app. For example, if you’ve had problems like photos or videos not being captured, significant shutter lag, frequent app crashes, or sluggish performance, then updating might be worthwhile as it could address those issues. However, if your firmware, Fly app, and Mini 4 Pro are functioning perfectly, it’s best to hold off on this update. The feature introduced in the last update was fantastic, so it’s worth sticking with that for now.
